A Basra company with field experience

Shadin Al-Janoob for General Contracting was founded in Basra in 2009 to serve the oil fields being redeveloped in southern Iraq.

About us

Who we are

We are an Iraqi limited liability company based in Basra. Our engineers and technicians cover electrical, instrumentation, telecoms, civil and mechanical work, and we run our own plant and vehicle fleet.

Between 2012 and 2016 we delivered more than US$10 million of orders for Eni Iraq at the Zubair field, as well as work for the Rumaila Operating Organisation and Basra Governorate. Operators valued our ability to procure and install substations and power equipment quickly.

We are now adding cathodic protection to our services, supplying and installing CP systems built by UK and European manufacturers.

HSE and quality

Safe work, documented work

Operating oil fields leave no room for improvised work. Each job runs under a written safety plan and a written quality plan.

HSE 1

Plan before work

Site survey, hazard identification and a job-specific HSE plan before mobilisation. Every new worker receives a project induction.

HSE 2

Control on site

Permit-to-work, daily toolbox talks, mandatory PPE, first-aid cover and a vehicle on standby for emergencies.

HSE 3

Inspect and report

Daily and weekly inspection records for workers, tools and equipment, kept for the client's audit.

QA 1

Document control

A register of every drawing and document with its revision and issue date. Superseded copies are withdrawn from site.

QA 2

Inspection and testing

Receiving inspection of materials, in-process checks and final tests recorded against an agreed inspection and test plan.

QA 3

Traceability

Materials identified by tag and location from receipt to installation, with certificates kept in the handover file.

Plant and vehicles

Owning our plant lets us mobilise quickly and keep control of the programme on remote well sites.

“Over the course of the past three years since the contract was awarded, Shadin's quality and performance of work has been very good and continues to improve. This company has never failed to perform for us and was most impressive in the ability to procure substation and power distribution equipment needed to execute a rush job.”
